Grocery Store Vs. Convenience Store
Convenience stores belong to the grocery stores classification but they sell a limited line of goods, unlike supermarkets. While there’s an overlap of certain product categories between a supermarket and a convenience store, convenience stores tend to focus mainly on essential food items such as bread, milk, cheese and coffee, in addition to snacks, beverages and tobacco.
As a result of that, convenience stores tend to be smaller in size than supermarkets.
Grocery Store Vs. Hypermarket
A hypermarket sells a general line of grocery in addition to a general line of merchandise, such as appliances, toys, apparel and household items, while a supermarket mainly sells a general line of food products. Therefore, hypermarkets tend to be bigger in size than supermarkets and are also referred to as big-box retailers.
